The Grange is a family organization. 

Children age 5-14 can belong to a 
Junior Grange or a 1+ Junior Grange. 

 

 

The Juniors Committee provides program ideas, recruitment aids and contest for Junior members. There is even a Junior portion of the State Convention.

Join the Fun!

Want to become a Junior Grange member? Girls and boys between the ages of 5 and 14 can now become Junior members of Community/Subordinate Granges. You can:

 

  • Attend and participate in meetings
  • Substitute for an officer who is absent
  • Speak on a topic being discussed
  • Help with Grange projects and events
  • Attend a Junior Jamboree
  • Enter State and National Grange contests

The cost is $1 initiation fee and $1 annual dues. Print the brochure listed below in the resources and give it to your local Grange. If you don’t know who to give it to, sent it to:

Children between the ages 5 and 14 can join your Subordinate/ Community Grange as 1+ members by paying an initiation fee of $1 and $1 annual dues. Your Master will administer the Junior Grange Obligation. Your Secretary will list the Junior’s name, address, and birth date on your next quarterly report. Your Grange retains the $2 payment.

The Junior Section of the OSG Award book listed below contains information on becoming a State Junior Officer. The State Junior Officer application form is also listed below. 

During the annual convention of the Oregon State Junior Grange, many activities are planned for the benefit of the Juniors in attendance. These include educational tours, contests, and the conferral of the Junior Degree by the current Junior Grange officers.  Applications received by March 31 will receive first consideration.

Junior Contests

The Junior section of the OSG Awards book, listed below contains information on many State and National Junior Contests. 

Cross-stitch, creative art, creative writing, mini scrapbook, and photography contests can be, but do not have to be, entered for judging at the State Grange Convention. If they are, awards in each age group: 1st place: $10, 2nd place: $5, 3rd place: $2.50.

After the convention the State Director will send winning entries to the National Junior Director.  However, if you want your entry returned to you and not sent to National Grange, please specify on your entry.

Juniors can send entries to National Grange without having them judged at the State Convention. Send them to the National Junior Director postmarked no later than October 1. Entries are not guaranteed to be returned to the contestant.

National Grange contest age groups:

  • 5 to 7 years
  • 8 to 10 years
  • 11 to 14 years

The National Junior Grange Merit Badge program is no longer supported, but the manual may still be useful. It is located below.
